Everyone's waking up at once, covered in bits of rubble, temporarily without abilities and with a lurking headache. The castle looms around them, irrepressibly gray, huge and silent. The only noises are the people, rustling as they extract themselves from their sarcophagi and look for exits along the arching walkways.

Better take a look around, and see if anyone else knows what's going on.

so that distinct memory of getting stabbed and thrown off a ledge, that, ah, that wasn't just a weird dream he had, then?

It feels like Kadar's stomach has fallen out and been replaced by nothing but ice, and he barely processes the 'thousand years ago' part.]

But, my brother-- did he--

Die? [He shrugs.] Like I said, it's been a thousand years. I've never actually met him.

[kaderp]

How can it have been so long?

[seventeenth]

Cause I have a time machine. [Nods solemnly.]

[kaderp]

...A what?

[seventeenth]

A time machine called the Animus. It lets me spy on my great great great grandparents.

[kaderp]

Your... great grandparents? [you're speaking perfect Syrian, to his ears, but he can't make heads or tails of what you're saying.]

[seventeenth]

Uh huh. Like Altaïr.

[kaderp]

[...Kadar's nose crinkles a little.] But Altaïr isn't... [married? interested in girls? interested in human beings?]

[seventeenth]

Well, not yet. It won't happen for another.... few years, I guess.

From your perspective.

You aren't making any sense. [he tugs his hood down a little. he's definitely not hiding behind it. definitely.]

Well... [He considers not saying anything, but what the hell. It's not like Kadar is actually there, and focusing on something makes it easy to ignore his headache.] He gets in trouble after Solomon's Temple and has to go on a long mission, and then he meets a girl, and a few years later they have a kid.

[kaderp]

He gets out of the Temple all right?

He sure does. Aside from the injuries to his pride.

[kaderp]

Why would his pride be injured?

[seventeenth]

That's.... kinda complicated. He screwed up and broke a bunch of Assassin rules, in short.

[kaderp]

He broke the Creed?!

[seventeenth]

Uh huh. [Reflexively, Desmond reaches down to fuss with the straps on his hidden blade. He doesn't extend it, though.] Like I said, he got in trouble.

[kaderp]

You still haven't told me about my brother.

[seventeenth]

He got out, too. He was pretty pissed. [But really, saying much else feels... wrong. Kadar is clearly not really there but... well, he's also clearly getting upset by this.]

[This is probably really alarming. Lucy had never mentioned something like this.]

[kaderp]

He must have been, if Altaïr did so badly. [...if Kadar died. He remembers, remembers Altaïr breaking the creed, technically, but there's no blame there.]

I was hoping to find him here.

[seventeenth]

... something like that, yeah. [Desmond doesn't like this-- he feels bad because he upset a hallucination. He should probably stop talking to him.] I haven't seem him here yet. Sorry.

[kaderp]

...all right. Thank you. I-- I'll go look for him. He might not be-- here yet. [but he has to come here. Kadar can't be here alone, can he?]

[seventeenth]

Right, good idea. I'll... uh. [Wow, okay, this is getting too strange for him.] I'll let him know you're here if I see him, okay?

[kaderp]

[Kadar attempts a smile, but it's a only a shade of his normal one.]
