| Opening Log

Everyone's waking up at once, covered in bits of rubble, temporarily without abilities and with a lurking headache. The castle looms around them, irrepressibly gray, huge and silent. The only noises are the people, rustling as they extract themselves from their sarcophagi and look for exits along the arching walkways.

Better take a look around, and see if anyone else knows what's going on.

[Kadar shakes his head a little, then, and closes the gap between them, grabbing Malik's hand in both of his.]

I'm here, brother, I promise. I'm not leaving. ['again' is left unsaid; to Kadar's eyes, he was never gone, but the absence of Malik's arms and the new lines on his face mean that yes, he has, and it breaks his heart to know.]

[The other grabs his hand and there is warmth there, not air, not the chill of death. It's a blessing, in a sense, but still he is wary. Quietly, his fingers wrap around those of the other and he lets out the breath he had been holding since the other reached out for him, shakily.] So you are not a spirit.

I--I am not sure what sorcery has brought you here, brought us here but for now I can say that your face is the last one I might have expected to see, though the one I am most happiest for.

[Kadar breaks out into a relieved smile, squeezing Malik's hand before removing one of his own to wrap around his brother. Malik is real and here, and Kadar is real and here, and even if Kadar doesn't know what's going on, exactly, things are going to be okay. He's certain of it.]

I was scared you wouldn't be here. [he'll admit it to Malik.] Nothing about this place is familiar, and there's so many people I don't know... [he smiles a little more, giving Malik another hug before finally relaxing some.] I'm glad to have found you.
dai: (⁾ we realize that an hours passed)

[personal profile] dai 2012-01-15 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Returning the embrace as he withdraws his hand from the other he exhales a breath. If this is indeed him, let him stay in this dream for a moment longer and while he is trying to keep his ground, attempting to keep his mind within his own time he kisses the side of the others face in greeting that was traditional of their era and of their culture.] Unfortunately I am here, but I am content I have found you as well.

I would have much rather found you in our own home, granted.
kaderp: (« i » ▲ hope you're well)

[personal profile] kaderp 2012-01-15 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Kadar can't help but smile a little, ducking his head slightly and laughing before looking back up. Happiness is back in his eyes, like it should be; the quiet, energetic spirit that Kadar has always had.]

Your presence here-- it does not mean something... has happened to you, does it? [Kadar is a little anxious; he's started to think that perhaps all who are here are the dead, and he can't bear the idea of his brother having died so young.]
dai: (⁾ i am not in need)

[personal profile] dai 2012-01-15 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Stepping away from the other, attempting to keep his emotions in check he feels as if he strays to far the other will only fade into air so the closeness is something brotherly. Looking out and around the realm, he exhales.]

What are you implying, exactly?
kaderp: (« nothing » ▲ takes your place)

[personal profile] kaderp 2012-01-15 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I have talked to others here, and-- most of us believe that we are here because... we are dead. [it's a little weak; he still can't quite process it, that he's-- dead. but he acknowledges it with the small part of his mind that can stay rational, even though all of this.]

There are people here from far into the future.
dai: (⁾ i could go on if you want me to)

[personal profile] dai 2012-01-15 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless someone was that swift to kill me, no--I am not dead. I felt like I was staring out into the bureau one moment and then after a blink of an eye I was within a tomb. [He sounds bitter about this, turning his steps to walk more alongside a silent invitation for the other to follow as he continued to head downward.]

I would not doubt it. If this place has brought us here the others that have arrived will be different just as we are to them. My recommendation is do not place your trust to heavily in them, who knows what they are capable of.
kaderp: (« i » ▲ hope you're well)

[personal profile] kaderp 2012-01-15 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kadar follows easily. He's had years to perfect matching Malik's pace; the slight differences in time doesn't cause him any effort to make up for.]

I am glad to hear that you're still all right. [happier than anything else so far, really; Malik being here and-- well, mostly intact is more than Kadar could dream of.]

There are others from our Order here! [well-- not quite.] Well-- from the future, and from different countries, but-- I believe they are our brothers all the same!
dai: (⁾ you can't find)

[personal profile] dai 2012-01-16 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Pausing at the final comment he bristled slightly and immediately reached for his brothers forearm, wrapping his fingers around it in a small tug as he leaned in to speak, eyes focused on his face intently.] Have you learned nothing from history?

Overtime things change, just because they may wear our colors and insignia does not mean that they stand for the same goals as we do. Until we know more about them they are not to be trusted.
kaderp: (« nothing » ▲ takes your place)

[personal profile] kaderp 2012-01-17 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kadar wilts, looking chastised, but shakes his head a little.] I believe they do, brother. I was talking to a woman named Sofia, and-- she recognized that I was an Assassin because of our goals. I would trust her.

[he hesitates slightly, and then--] I think it would be better to have allies here.
dai: (⁾ and here's the hand my trusty friend)

[personal profile] dai 2012-01-18 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Allies require trust to grain, I'm not saying we should not have them as it's wise to in a place like this. [He arches an eyebrow and continues to move down the stairway before reaching the bottom.]

I haven't met this Sofia--what did she say exactly?
kaderp: (« when » ▲ they say you're)

[personal profile] kaderp 2012-01-18 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
I had said that I had been fighting, prior to my arrival here... She asked me who my enemies were, and I explained the motives of the Templars. She guessed who they were, and told me that her husband is the Mentor of the Italian Assassins. She recognized the names of Altaïr and Masyaf.
dai: (⁾ i could go on if you want me to)

[personal profile] dai 2012-01-19 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
[He pauses and narrows his eyes slightly--more so than usual as if the information disturbs him.] Italian Assassins?

And Altaïr--the only way they would know of him is if his ego got put into the books.
kaderp: (« it's » ▲ not your fault)

[personal profile] kaderp 2012-01-20 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Kadar can't help but laugh at that. He still admires Altaïr, so the constant hatred that he and Malik have for each other is a little humorous to him.]

I don't know. Maybe the way our mission went will be recorded forever. [he smiles a little lopsidedly; it was such a disaster he can't help but joke about it.]
dai: (⁾ should auld acquaintance be forgot)

[personal profile] dai 2012-01-21 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kadar would be surprised to know that the hatred was not such bad as it had been. Time had passed and with the others second visit to Jerusalem but that was a conversation for later. Malik was still unsure, would be for awhile but for now he was content to have his brother in his company. Nudging him with the other with his singular elbow at the laugh he let out a huff of breath and continued to look forward.] That mission.

Was a failure and a success, brother.
kaderp: (« you're » ▲ not that weak)

[personal profile] kaderp 2012-01-22 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
[the idea of Malik having anything but a seething disdain for Altaïr would be nearly enough to have Kadar doubting his own sanity-- or perhaps his own subconscious. He sobers a little, looking at Malik with the carefully collected expression of a proper Assassin.]

How is that, brother? [he suspects. the failure is obvious: it's obvious in Malik's arm, obvious in Kadar's entire being, obvious in the rafiq robes that Malik dons and the quiet fact that Kadar will never stop wearing novice gray, now.]
dai: (⁾ we're reeling through an endless fall)

[personal profile] dai 2012-01-22 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[Walking along his steps slow as he turned to look at the other, his brows furrowing somewhat. It was a story he didn't like to relive and was not even certain he wanted to tell the other about it. Maybe he was not meant to know as fate would determine but for now, it was all uncertainty.] Maybe it's a story for another time.

[He spoke quietly before looking away and picking up the pace once more.]
kaderp: (« i » ▲ hope you're well)

[personal profile] kaderp 2012-01-23 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Kadar considers. He wants to ask more; wants to hear it from Malik, but-- at the same time, perhaps it is better that they not discuss it yet. They have other things to worry about. And-- if this is some sort of second chance, then perhaps Kadar shouldn't waste it worrying about things he has no control or influence over.]

I will wait, then.
dai: (⁾ what can you say?)

[personal profile] dai 2012-01-24 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
[He gives the other a small look over his shoulder before looking ahead and reaching the bottom of the steps. Exhaling quietly he wants to explain it to him but it's not the place nor the time.]

You have my thanks for your patience.
kaderp: (« i » ▲ hope you're well)

[personal profile] kaderp 2012-01-24 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Kadar laughs a little; light and airy.]

You have no reason to thank me for that, brother. It was you that taught me, after all.
dai: (⁾ let your clarity define you in the end)

[personal profile] dai 2012-01-25 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Then you've kept the things you've learned, and that pleases me. [He claps the other on the shoulder and then pulls away.]

Come, let's see what we can find.
kaderp: (« it's » ▲ not your fault)

[personal profile] kaderp 2012-01-26 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
I would not forget what you've taught me so easily! [besides, it. was really just yesterday for him. but he takes a few steps forwards, regardless.]
dai: (⁾ hey flathead don't check me in)

wrap.

[personal profile] dai 2012-01-28 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Offering a smile at the other he moved along the pathway before letting it fade, a sigh upon his breath. This place had brought nothing but curses so far.

Perhaps he could simply view Kadar as a temporary blessing.]
