Everyone's waking up at once, covered in bits of rubble, temporarily without abilities and with a lurking headache. The castle looms around them, irrepressibly gray, huge and silent. The only noises are the people, rustling as they extract themselves from their sarcophagi and look for exits along the arching walkways.

Better take a look around, and see if anyone else knows what's going on.

Gee, I sure am sad I can't hate people correctly, [she shoots back, unable to resist the sarcasm. It's the sort of casual sarcasm that she uses in every day conversation, though; Willow's starting to get most of her distress out, and can move onto being a rational being again.]

Right, so, looking for giant clock, we can do that. If my magic does come back-- and it has to-- I might be able to help with the other part, the if-this-isn't-the-City part. I'm an old hand at locator spells. [Granted she's usually using maps to find other people, but it wouldn't be too difficult to apply it here.]

Just like the tree. [She gives him a smile, weak as it is in the circumstances, and slightly apologetic now about her earlier outburst. But Willow really doesn't desire returning to that conversational mess.

As they walk, though, she does have a question.] So don't take this as a cultural insult or anything, um, Karkat, but... what are you? I can recognize quite a few demons on sight, but you don't look like any of them.

[ well the question doesn't come as a surprise. so Karkat doesn't put up airs about it. there's no sneer no sigh of irritation. just acceptance. at least she realizes that she could be stepping on cultural toes. that's a bonus. ]

That would be because I'm not a demon. Hell, I'm not even from Earth or in a universe that Earth exists within. We trolls are from a planet called Alternia. Two moons: pink and purple. The sunlight burns your fucking retinas out and a great deal of it is comprised of ocean to suit the sea dwellers.

... A different planet? This is another wacky dimensional thing, isn't it? [She can't help but be slightly skeptical about aliens, but well, she's accepted crazier before. And this really isn't the time to put up a fuss about it.]

It would explain why you're all talky, though. Not that I haven't met talky demons, they just tend to be peeling my skin off while they're talking. [The face she makes as she says that makes it pretty clear that it isn't an idle example.]

[Chatting about Hellmouth drama is familiar and therefore comforting to Willow, so she explains willingly.] Sometimes people come over from other dimensions, like places where events went differently, or just from other planes of existence. I wouldn't say it happens often, but often enough.

As for demons... I grew up on a portal to hell. [Willow shrugs.] There are a lot of demons. --Were, I should be saying were now.
