Everyone's waking up at once, covered in bits of rubble, temporarily without abilities and with a lurking headache. The castle looms around them, irrepressibly gray, huge and silent. The only noises are the people, rustling as they extract themselves from their sarcophagi and look for exits along the arching walkways.

Better take a look around, and see if anyone else knows what's going on.

[You're blue.

He's not used to people being blue, okay, and he's trained to look at everything, including blue people crawling along walls. He jumps backwards when he notices her.]

H-- hello? [It's a little higher pitch than he'd have liked-- but he's a little scared, so that makes sense.]

[permutant]

[She's disheartened by the obvious fear, but... Well, it's not like Charles was wrong about humans and mutants. Of course people are scared. He probably thinks she's a monster. And as much as she'd like to snap at him (and she nearly does) she's kind of on her own here, and... she'd rather not seem like a monster. Maybe if she stays calm, they won't assume she is.]

... Hey. Do you, uh... [God, don't be nervous either, that's lame. She clears her throat.] Do you know what's going on?

[kaderp]

[Kadar shakes his head a little. Well, it talks. And it looks and sounds like a girl, aside from the ... blue, so best to be polite. Kadar takes a quiet breath.]

N-- no. I only just arrived here. I-- I'm not certain how. [you're stuttering, Kadar, you're being a novice--]

[permutant]

[Raven's not the most delicate of people, and she's also not much in the mood to be polite or understanding when she's been kidnapped and she can't shift and she has a headache, so she just says outright - ]

You're nervous because of me.

[... But her own voice is hoarse with what is quite clearly fear and nerves.]

[kaderp]

...a little. [his smile is a little awkward.] I've never met anyone blue before. [he rubs his head a little, jostling the hood slightly.]

But-- I bet you've never met an Assassin before!

[permutant]

I'm a mutant. I'm not always... blue. I can change it. [there's a sort of sigh there. she doesn't like that she has to change it.] Just not right now. I don't know why.

... An assassin. Like a real assassin. Seriously?

[kaderp]

You can change it? [hope you don't mind him looking a little awed.] What to? Other colors?

--And yes! A real Assassin.

[permutant]

Um. [... that is not fear or horror, and he's quite clearly a human. what kind of universe did she wake up in.] Anything. I'm a shape-shifter. I mean, I could look like you if I wanted to.

That's... very cool. [there is a bit of a smile there. she has to respect a guy like that.]

[kaderp]

[on the contrary to fear and horror, he now looks completely amazed.] That sounds -- amazing! You must be able to disguise yourself so well! [and then, a little mischievously;] You could play all sorts of tricks on people like that...

That's much more amazing than being an Assassin. [b, besides, he's just a novice. he's not used to being thought of as anything but a hindrance.]

[permutant]

[this is more like talking to the other mutant kids than a human, and that's doing... a whole lot to make her relax. she was really worried about having to work with people to get out of here, but if they're all this nice, it doesn't seem like there's going to be a problem. she laughs and comes further away from the wall.]

Don't I know it. I've probably done every trick in the book. I could've written the book. My friends call me Mystique. But, um. [she grins and holds out her hand.] I'm Raven.

Doesn't an assassin take work, though? I was born like this. It's just... something I can do, I didn't really have to train or anything.

[kaderp]

Raven. [he smiles a little, and shakes the hand.] That's a nice name. I am Kadar Al-Sayf.

I was born an Assassin, but-- I have had to work hard to get to my rank! I-- I am still just a novice, though. [there's a slight flush and a duck of his head at that; he might be near the rank of proper Assassin, but the mission at Solomon's Temple hadn't gone as planned--] Still, for all our training, none of us have anything near that power.

[a small laugh again.] It would make our job much easier!

[permutant]

Yeah, I bet. But that's really all I can do. I don't have any amazing assassin skills. [she huffs, a half-laugh.] I'm a pretty good actor, though. How about if I figure out how to get my shifting back, I'll show you?

[there's a very tentative note to the end of the question; still nervous, cautious, still fearing rejection and hatred for what she is. just because he's accepting her right now doesn't mean he wants to see the proof of her mutated abilities, and it doesn't mean he wants to associate with her ever again. she tries not to assume with things like that.]

[kaderp]

[Kadar absolutely lights up at that.] I would like that! I don't really have anything that I can show you. Most of what I've been trained to do is a... secretive. [he looks down for a second, then brightens a little more again.]

I could show you how to freerun!

[permutant]

Well, as soon as I've got it, I'll come find you. You can be the first to know and everything.

Uh. [she tilts her head curiously.] Freerun?

[kaderp]

Freerunning! Where you use obstacles like buildings and ledges to your advantage. It works well for running from guards! [it's particularly useful for pranks, too.]

I think you would be good at it.

[permutant]

You do? [there's a pause. she tries to sound cool and boasting instead of sort of nervous and not really sure - ] I... kind of have better-than-human speed and strength when I'm like this. Usually. Just... not in creepy castles, I guess?

[kaderp]

Then I am certain you will be good at it! [Kadar gestures around him in a wide, sweeping gesture that uses both of his arms.] This place is similar to home-- I grew up near a great castle! It was where we all learned. If you are stronger and faster, you will pick it up quickly.
