Everyone's waking up at once, covered in bits of rubble, temporarily without abilities and with a lurking headache. The castle looms around them, irrepressibly gray, huge and silent. The only noises are the people, rustling as they extract themselves from their sarcophagi and look for exits along the arching walkways.

Better take a look around, and see if anyone else knows what's going on.

Guess so. [He puffs out a breath. A castle or fortress. Damn.]

Whoever managed this has some serious manpower at their disposal. [He doesn't mention the second and third conclusions his mind jumped to (magics and the involvement of really powerful gods, respectively) because he doesn't know how Narcissa might take them.]

There's easily forty people here.

[She gives him a measuring look. He appears to be relatively calm, so she's not too worried about dropping this particular bomb.]

One person I've spoken to is from a time eight hundred years before my own. I think it's safe to say that something more than manpower brought us here.

You're sure they were sincere? Not to disregard what you experienced, but it's a little hard to believe, you know?

His clothes and manner of speech suggest he was, and there's no reason, given current circumstances, for him to have created an elaborate ruse.

[She wrinkles her nose, and smoothes her cloak.]

I daresay we've more immediate concerns, though.

Important but terribly inconvenient :(

[He can't imagine a more immediate concern than the idea of waking up in the past, or distant future.]

Wait. [He makes a gesture, as if stopping her from moving the conversation onward.] I'm from 2008-– What year are you from?

[It did occur to Narcissa that since she is from the future for some people, there'd be others who are further along than her - but actually thinking about twenty years from now is a little startling. She doesn't show it, though, other than a slight widening of her eyes. It's swiftly covered with what might be considered a rueful smile - for her vanity, if nothing else. She'd be in her forties by then.]

It's nineteen seventy-six at home... or it was when I awoke this morning.
