Everyone's waking up at once, covered in bits of rubble, temporarily without abilities and with a lurking headache. The castle looms around them, irrepressibly gray, huge and silent. The only noises are the people, rustling as they extract themselves from their sarcophagi and look for exits along the arching walkways.

Better take a look around, and see if anyone else knows what's going on.

Way less humiliating than watching me try to climb down everything, [she agrees fervently. She catches up with him quickly, and then slows to a more sedate walking pace as they take the stairs down to the ground level, looking around carefully as they go.]

I could do it in a cinch if mine were working, too, [she says glumly.] That really needs to speed up, like, now.

[... Gosh, has his lisp been that cute the entire time? Something about it over his own name made Willow susceptible. And he's all smiling and adorable. But teenage boys usually don't like being told they're adorable, so she keeps that to herself.] I'm happy to have the company.

I hope they come back before we run into anything dangerouth. [He says it flippantly, but he does mean it. He cocks an eyebrow at her] Better than being alone in a thtrange plathe, I guethh.

No kidding. I can swing a mean lamp, but it's just not the same as throwing fireballs at them.

Much better, [she agrees wholeheartedly.] I get all anxious when I'm on my own. It's not fun.

Hmm, well don't worry. I'll protect you. [He says it like he's fucking with her, but he does mean it. Not that he can do much, compared to other trolls, though he has sharp claws and teeth at least, compared to her softness]

[Well used to the joking-but-meaning it, Willow doesn't blink at the comment.]

Aren't you a gentleman, [she says with an edge of a smile.] Don't worry, once everything comes back I'm sure I can return the favor.

Tho what kind of powerth do you have? [He's curious, familiar with humans with weird powers, but they all seem to have different sorts of things. Troll powers at least tend to run on similar lines]

I'm a witch, so... magic. It's a little open-ended, and by a little I mean, the rules of the universe are putty in my hands if I have the right power supply, and, you know, no scruples.

Mostly I'm partial to more mundane spells, like telekinesis. Way less problematic.

Really? Oh, cool. I'm thuppothed to be a mage, but really I'm a pthychic. Telekinethith ith my thing, too.

Oh, wow! [She perks up with interest and solidarity.] Telekinesis was the first magic I ever learned, so I'm the most comfortable with it. And heck is it useful.

We'll show each other later, [she says firmly.] And only the good parts. Sometimes I wish I could take a break from the bad parts, myself.

[They've reached the bottom of the stairs, and she pauses there on the open stone floor, glancing around and assessing the room from this newer angle.]

If you want to find them, I'd say... down. Basement is a classic.

[Ohhhkay. She can't say she isn't hesitant-- Willow wasn't actually kidding earlier that it made her nervous to wander around without a way to defend herself-- but she does want answers, and she's not about to leave her only company.

After a second's delay, she jogs after him.] I hope you know what you're doing, cause if I get killed for this I'm coming back to haunt you, and I know all of the Spice Girls songs.

[The grin he shoots her is a tiny bit manic. More than that, he believes this is a City curse, and those are never really that dangerous.]

I don't hear them after they die, tho thorry. You'll have to haunt my former girlfriend.

[Her look turns a bit dry, wondering if she was ever young enough to think it was fun to go looking for ghosts. ... Nah, she'd always been the scream and hit them with fire extinguishers type.]

... Really can't think of a response to that that isn't frighteningly morbid.
