The Night Fury found himself a present! It's just what he wanted, too! His old saddle. The leather even still smells like Berk. He's happy to have a piece of home. But he's also happy to finally have something that can be used to help him find a rider. Flying alone is no fun.
In all his joy, the large dragon is running through the halls, bouncing and leaping over obstacles and approaching fellow dwellers, saddle in his jaws, eyes wide as he begs for a flight partner.
Indulge the silly lizard?

"You want me to put that on you?"

Toothless stepped towards the Lombax and gave him an investigative sniff. Hm. Looked a little too big to be a cat, but... well, what else could it be?
It spoke, and it sounded like the humans. How strange. Oh well, he'd figure it out later. Toothless shook his head and bounced on his feet. Yes, put the saddle on him! Come on, join him for a flight!

"Alright. Hand it over." The Lombax took the saddle and tried to pull it away from Toothless, hoping the dragon didn't bite him.

"...I think I'm putting it on backwards."

With the straps not in position to be properly secured, Toothless was easily able to shake the contraption off and use a paw to move it correctly into position on the ground. He then arranged himself to crouch beside it. All Ratchet would have to do is lift and drop, and strap. Easy enough, right?
The impatient dragon lowed, huffed, snuffled, and clucked in anticipation.

"Alright. Let's get this on right this time." He did just as he needed to, lift, drop, and strap. Soon enough the saddle was on securely and everything was hooked up. "There you go. All done."

He gave a nod of his big head. He'd seen Hiccup make the motion when he was pleased with something. He figured it was a good sign.
Then, Toothless had just one more request. He kept his body and head low to the ground, ears perked ever so slightly as he rumbled deep in his throat, nearly pleadingly.
Go for a ride? It'd be fun!
You thought hoverboots were cool?

"You want me to ride you?"

Ratchet was no Hiccup, but he would do for the time being.
Flying was more fun with someone else.

"Alright! Let's do this!" He flashed a happy smile and moved beside Toothless and jumped into the saddle.

The instant he felt Ratchet settle in the saddle, the Night Fury was leaping into the air, each wing beat thrusting them higher and higher.
When he felt there was enough distance between them and the ground, he turned, wings extended and catching air as he glided along upside down and right side up and every which way.
Hold on tight!

Well! That was a good exercise, no? The dragon turned to regard the Lombax over his shoulder. Fun? Was it fun? Yes. Fun. Do it again!
The Night Fury reared up before jogging towards the other side of the roof and diving off to ride what drafts there were around the castle. He soared with only a few wing beats, this flight notably more relaxed and easy than the last one.

"Well that was interestiiiiiiiiiiing!" He quickly clung to the dragon again, making sure to hold on as they took off. At least this one wasn't as fast as the last one.

He trilled lowly as he continued gliding, falling, and rising, mostly on air drafts though he did give a beat of a wing every so often.
The two stayed in the air for a while. Toothless didn't pay attention to the time, but he felt it was safe to assume they'd been off the ground long enough, and found his way to solid ground once again. Nearly his entire body was vibrating with joyful purring as he crouched down to ease the Lombax's dismount.

Still, it was better than nothing, even if it wasn't Hiccup. He purred around the saddle and approached him, bouncing lightly on his feet.
Maybe this guy would help?
no subject
"You... want me to do something with that?"

The dragon jumped back, feet splayed and teeth bared, ready to attack if this... floaty human made any attempts of his own.
Pupils narrowed and wings on defensive display, Toothless let out a deep growl around the saddle still held securely in his mouth.

As for this guy, who knew what was wrong with him? He didn't smell, look, nor do what normal humans did. A warning growl sounded in the back of his throat as he backed away.
Anything that flew without wings was never a good thing, as far as Toothless was concerned.

When he was sure he was a safe distance away, the dragon turned his back on the ghost, though his ears were perked as he continued his search.

Not like a demon. Not like a ghost.
"He's scared of you."
