Heero was hunched over a table, a dissembled pistol lay in pieces on top of the table in the common area. There wasn't much light to work by, given the time of day he was working, but he knew the mechanics of a gun like the back of his hand. Fixing the jam would be no problem and it needed a good cleaning anyway.
It had been days since the last time Heero had slept. With the nightmares and things everyone were experiencing, he wasn't going to take a chance and be forced to go through the same. Nightmares drawn up from memories were the last thing he wanted to experience, especially since he was now sharing a room with two other people. For the time being he flat out refused to sleep, using every bit of his training to stay awake and finding things to do. Exploring, tinkering with a pistol, training, and other things. However, it was getting to the point that pretty soon he was going to have to nod off for a bit. He couldn't keep going at this rate.
Occasionally he stopped, lifting his head and looking around the common room for other people. After being attacked and having Duo nearly try to kill him, he was on a heightened guard. No one was awake, but that didn't mean the shadows wouldn't come back for him. Hell, maybe his attacker would like to go for a second try with him.
((ooc: It's the middle of the night and Heero is busy maintaining a weapon. Feel free to sit with and bother him.))

However he was still interested in knowing about what happened to his counterpart in Duo's universe. A part of him wondered if something like that could still happen in his. Dekim was still very much alive and the new government was just that; new.
"What happened to me, at the end of your war?"

"What happened to you..." He paused, and looked Heero over. "You...he. He killed Dekim, and he ended things. They found him unconscious in Dekim's fortress and brought him to the hospital. He's been staying at a rehab center with other soldiers for the last couple a months, mostly cause it's the only place we know if that has the medical facilities to help him. The conditioning went pretty deep. It wasn't like in the movies where the hero is going evil and just suddenly ... Y'know. Snaps out of it."

The rest of it sounded pretty bad. Somehow his counterpart had managed to kill Dekim, but if he were unconscious at the end of it there must have been some steep cost. At least he was getting help now, though if he were him he wouldn't exactly be happy about needing it in the first place.
"And everyone else?"
no subject
"Hmm. Well, Quatre went to Earth to try and fix the damages done by the colony drop, No-Name got adopted into a circus troupe and took the name of one of the stage hand's dead brother. And Wufei? He's been working with that new peace corp group. I'd signed up with him to train new recruits in the summer but I was keeping my distance for a while."

Taking a swig, he listened as Duo spoke about everyone else. They seemed to be doing well enough for themselves, though after seeing both Duo and Quatre, he knew that mentally they were all pretty banged up. He passed it back to Duo.
no subject
"Did you see any thing? Any nightmares that weren't yours?"
no subject
"I saw the colony drop. I was you, watching my other self trying to stop it and fail."
no subject
"I hate this place. I really really do."
no subject
no subject
And what could possibly be worse than the colony drop, hm? Oh, yeah. To name a few things. "You..."
He looked over Heero's face. "Don't let it weigh on your conscious. If you won't let me do that, then you can't either."
no subject
"I'm not. He's not me." Though when he experienced the memory, he couldn't help but feel incredibly guilty and angry at the same time. When the Libra hurtled towards Earth, he was able to stop it in the atmosphere. He had succeeded where the other failed.

What else to say to Heero? Hnn. Guns weren't gonna do much, he looked Heero over once again.
"So... Talk about somethin else? Weapons? I was thinkin' about getting some leather for makin' some scabbards and the like. Make it easier to carry things." He said off handedly. No idea how much leather he'd actually need.
no subject
But that was pretty much a conversation ender, wasn't it? Heero needed to work on getting better at this.
no subject
"There's a pile of metal in that corner over there that Toph drug up. We can make swords easy, or whatever we need." So hence why he wants to get started on some scabbards.

Or maybe Heero had finally hit the point where he really needed to get to sleep.
Running a hand through his hair, he gave a nod of his head. "Go wish for leather then."
no subject
He looked Heero over and rose to his feet.
"C'mon. Go to bed, man. You're getting bags under your eyes."
no subject
"I'll be fine." He brushed Duo's suggestion off and stood himself. He could hold out a little while longer before he needed to get to sleep.
no subject
"I'll see you in the morning, Heero."
