[Desmond thinks he's getting the hang of the castle. On and off, all day, he's been alternating between lounging around the living area and badgering people to come explore the castle with him -- not very far, of course, but just enough to get a proper feel for the place. He wants to go back to the tower. He wants to check the sarcophagus room to see if anyone else showed up. He wants to see what's waiting on the other side of the dorms. He wants to climb all over ancient, crumbling architecture for the hell of it.]

[It'll probably get annoying for everyone else, after a while, but for now Desmond is enjoying himself.]

(ooc: An open 'get bugged by Desmond' post. I can come up with a reason for hm to approach and chatter at literally anyone! If there's a specific area you want your character to go to just say so in the subject line/an ooc note, or write the tag with them already in that part of the castle.)

[The Lombax is a bit preoccupied so he doesn't look up just yet.]

The thing that brought us here. There isn't any tech in these things at all.

[seventeenth]

Yeah, no kidding. [He crouches down a few feet behind the goofy-looking critter. What is he?] Course, it's hard to tell unless we can get into the wall.

[last_lombax]

If I had my guns that wouldn't be a problem. But whoever brought us here made sure to take them away.

[Ratchet stands up and turns to face the person he was talking to.]

So who are you?

[seventeenth]

Wouldn't guns just destroy anything inside the walls?

[Desmond crosses his arms, but smiles.] I'm Desmond.

[last_lombax]

Not if we had the right guns. I'm Ratchet.

[The Lombax moved to one of the empty wall spaces where a sarcophagus once stood.]

But we might be able to get into the wall if we can find an access port. Some of the stones might be moveable. You never know. But it will take forever to search every one...

[seventeenth]

Nice to meet you. [Weird name, though.]

I dunno, this place is pretty old. [Desmond approaches curiously.] I'm not sure there's be any holes intentionally left in the walls.

[last_lombax]

If tech didn't do it then...maybe magic? If it's magic I have no idea what to do. I'm not really much of a magic person.

[seventeenth]

Yeah, I'm not really either. [He shrugs.] Could have been drugs?

[last_lombax]

[Ratchet shook his head.]

No. It couldn't have been drugs. Not for everyone, at least.

[seventeenth]

Why not?

[last_lombax]

Because drugs wouldn't have worked on me.

[seventeenth]

Oh. [Desmond blinks. Then, master of tact that he is, he asks:] Why not?

[last_lombax]

...Because they wouldn't.

[And Ratchet attempts to dodge the question.]

[seventeenth]

[Secretive, huh? Desmond gets that.] Fair enough. So you think it was magic, then?

[last_lombax]

It's possible...but I don't know. Either magic, technology, or something combining the two.

[seventeenth]

I thought magic and technology weren't really supposed to mix.

[last_lombax]

Normally you're not supposed to. But tell that to the ghost robot space pirates I fought a while back.

[seventeenth]

"Ghost-- Ghost robot space pilots?" Desmond can't help but laugh. "What is-- is that a joke, or something?"

[last_lombax]

Ratchet kept a straight face and shook his head. "No, I'm telling the truth. I had to fight an army of ghost robot pirates once."
