Queen Plot - Mingle Post!
The sun has nearly set when the attack begins.
It's quiet at first, and easy to miss. Pools of shadow form and then slowly expand, and then strange creatures of the same rise from them, their only distinguishable feature their strange, glowing eyes.
And then they move, lurching forward and spreading through out the tower, around the fountain, and across the bridge. They grab whoever doesn't run fast enough, and attack only those who attack them first. They're single-minded, but swift and strong, and escaping from them won't be easy.
And of course, elsewhere lurks their master, the Queen...

Shit! He took a strike to the chest and knocked back once, but he took it. Still, he was running out of steam even so and he'd already been doing this a while since the attack started.
Duo dashed around the monster to strike his weapon up at the creature's side, the one that was chasing the cat.
"Get behind me!" He said, backing up now to take the defensive. At least now the odds were a little more even.

Another shadow came at Duo, a bigger thug one this time. He charged Duo, aiming to ran his shoulder into the pilot's chest.

The other shadow came at them both, attempting to grab at Hermit from behind.

The shadow that tried to shoulder slam Duo stopped and turned. This time it jumped forward, aiming a punch to the pilot's face.

Duo swung his weapon into the arm as hard and as fast as he could, but it still managed to claw out at his face, knocking him right under the ear at the base of his jaw. He kicked out into the thing's torso.
"Dammit..." He was tired. Even he couldn't take on an army of these things. He gestured back towards the rooms. "Go! Start running! Third one from the left!"

The monster that hit Duo fell back onto it's back with the kick, down temporarily. If they were going to run, now was the time.

He bolted for his room, leap frogging over another shadow in his way. Once he reached the door he halted at the front of it, opening it up for himself and the cat. Once inside, he slammed the door shut.
"Goddamnit." He said, a hand raising to the stinging cut at the side of his face.

"A-Are we safe in here?"
no subject
"Didn't think they would attack this place."

"I need to rest." And get that wound taken care of. Damn that stung.

"I'm fine. Just... A little beat up inside and out." He said, stretching his arms out over his head, then reaching for his pillow.
"You got a name?"

"Maybe later, but thanks." He sits up a bit and smiled a bit at the cat. "You know you can lay on one of these beds if you want. I haven't seen anyone else in this room for weeks.

"You're just fine, Hermit. Nobody's been here for a few weeks now. As far as I'm concerned? It's my room. Go ahead and take a bed."

"Thank you Duo..."
no subject
"Maybe..." He yawned. "Maybe I'll getcha a fish for lunch tomorrow too."

The cat closed his eyes and snuggled into the pillow.

"What can she do with that?" He wondered aloud before rolling over and curling up with his blanket wrapped around him.
