This wasn't her room.

There was no sound of machinery, no gentle hum of lights and computers and other equipment. There was no child-like laughter from the twins outside the door, no tapping of fingers or smell of cigarettes as Dell worked tirelessly on his song writing, no distant sound of singing from somewhere else in the VOCALOID household that Crypton owned in that small residential district in Tokyo. There was just silence, and a musty scent that for all intents and purposes reminded her of a grave yard after a rain storm had come and gone.

And darkness.

A darkness she wasn't used to.

It soon dawned on her why, though, shortly after her systems started up and she roused from her sleep mode, only slightly more energized than when she had gone to bed.

She was enclosed in something. It was cold, stone, rough and only the barest bits of light fluttered through the few small openings that were high above her head. There was something behind her that only reached to her shoulder blades, just as solid as the stone around her, but she couldn't for the life of her see what it was. In front, what looked to be some kind of opening, though it was little more than a sliver of a crack around it that indicated this.

At first she was curious in her strange half-awake moment before her systems came completely on line, but soon enough that was replaced by fear, then panic. Had she been kidnapped? Were the others there with her? This wasn't a prank... it couldn't be. There was nothing like this strange tomb in their home or anywhere near by. But then, where was she? And how had she been taken from her home so quickly as to not have woken up at all during the journey?

"... h... hello?! e-eto... Is... is anyone out there?! Is-- h... help... ! Help me! Please!"

She became more frightened by the second, even going so far as to start pushing against the wall in front of her in some useless hope that maybe, just maybe, it would budge.

"LET ME OUT! PLEASE"

Her voice rose shrilly, loud and echoing in her chamber, even carrying outside of it for a long ways beyond where her wobbling sarcophagi stood. She was so fraught with panic that she didn't even realize she was actually making the stone budge and sway. She started throwing herself against it hard, slamming her shoulder in to it repeatedly with her frightened, no longer coherent screams.

All at once the stone gave and toppled over with her still inside it, sending both crashing to the stone ledge hard. She bounced when she hit, body jarring with the impact as she skid and went rolling off the edge on to the ground below. She landed in a heap, groaning with the pain her nerve receptors were sending through her entire body, especially her head. A few warnings popped up only long enough for her to know that she was going to shut down momentarily due to the impact.

"Nn-- no... don't--..."

Try as she might to fight against her system's protocols, she failed to stop the shut down fast enough, and within seconds she was still, laying as a discarded doll on the dusty castle floor.

"Please, don't panic! I can speak in Japanese if that makes you more comfortable, Miss Haku." He said, not wanting her to freak out over something so small as the language they were speaking. Maybe something had happened to her processor or something when she'd been knocked out?

"Y... you can... ?"

Strangely, it was comforting to hear him say that. As much as she wanted to panic and freak out, he was doing well at keeping her from completely losing it. She put a hand to her chest, mechanical heart racing for only a second but slowing quickly.

"I... i-if you wouldn't mind..." she said, shifting on her feet. "Mou... I'm not handling this well at all..."

Smiling at her he nodded. "Its no trouble." He said switching over to Japanese. "I'm not the best at speaking it, so you'll have to bare with me if I make a mistake."

To that, Haku actually managed a smile for the first time. It surprised her that some one she'd just met was willing to inconvenience himself like that for her, but it was a relief none the less.

"Thank you very much, Winner-san. I won't mind any mistakes at all, I promise."

"Thank you Miss Haku. I guess we should start looking around." He rubbed his arms to warm them up. It had taken a little while for him to realize how cold it was. But now the cold seemed to be seeping into his skin. Moving around would help a little at least.

"Mn!" Haku made a noise with her nod, only to frown a second later when she realized how little Quatre was wearing. Cold didn't bother her, naturally, but she really couldn't help him with her current attire as she was just in jeans and a sweater. A torn sweater at that.

"... are you going to be okay, Winner-san?"

Nodding again, he wrapped his arms around himself. "Yeah, space is much colder than this. I'll be alright until I can find something warmer."

Following after him, Haku couldn't help but cant her head to the side in mild confusion.

"Space... ?"

She was sounding like quite the parrot today.

"Yeah, I only just recently moved to Earth. I've lived most of my life in the colonies." He said, not realizing quite yet that she might have no idea what he was talking about.

"Space... colonies?"

Well, at least that much she'd been able to piece together. She may not have been the sharpest tool in the shed, but her learning curve wasn't that bad.

"... you lived in space?! That's amazing!" she cried out at the sudden realization, wincing when her voice echoed around the chamber noisily. "Sorry..."

"Its okay. And I guess it is pretty amazing considering all of humanity's hardships..." He wasn't sure if it would matter if they made noise. No one had come running to see how they'd gotten out yet. There weren't any sirens, or any sign of cameras or monitoring devices at all. It certainly didn't mean they weren't there, especially when he could tell there were others in the building.

"Very amazing..." Haku breathed, wondering quietly what it was like out there amongst the stars. She was so lost in thought that she momentarily forgot that they were already lost in the very place they'd woken up in.

"... eto... Winner-san? Where should we go... ?"

Placing a hand over his heart, he let his eyes slip closed. "To where ever the most people are." He opened his eyes again, "I should be able to guide us. But I don't know if they're the people who brought us here or not. Do you know how to defend yourself at all?"

"D-defend myself...?"

Fighting.

"... no..." she answered quietly, finding herself avoiding his gaze and looking to the floor again. Would he be disappointed in that?

"I didn't think you could. Its fine. Just...help me keep a look out for anything that could be used as a weapon. That will help a lot."

"I can do that!" Haku said with a much more confident nod. She certainly couldn't fight, but her systems and vision allowed her to see things most humans wouldn't catch normally. Hopefully that would prove useful to him as she followed along.

He smiled at her again and started to cross the cavernous room. Even his bare footsteps echoed off the stone in a very disorienting way. "Are you alright? It looked like you might have taken a knock to the head..."

"Ehh..."

Haku rubbed at the back of her head again, but no dent presented itself under her thick hair.

"My systems all seem to be running normally..." she admitted after a pause, though she noticed a bit of a lag in it it. It was minute at best and only seemed to be affecting her energy levels, but nothing else. And it was fading fast anyway. "I should be alright. ... how are you doing?"

"Ah, fine, more or less. I heard you screaming, then a crash, so I was worried." He said, pausing at the doorway and looking down both halls. They were both empty. Taking a few tentative steps down one of the halls, he kept close to the wall.

"I'm glad you're alright then."

"... I... I panicked..." Haku said quietly after a pause, fingers fidgeting together. "I was afraid I'd been kidnapped... and locked in a crate somewhere..."

Crypton would have never locked her away like that unless there was something they truly couldn't prevent, and being kidnapped was unlikely, but at the time it was a frightening conclusion all the same.

"I was worried my siblings might have been damaged, or locked away, too... but..." she glanced around again, heart lamenting at the silence of the chamber. It had only been a short time since waking, but she was already missing the normal sounds of the Crypton house and the near by recording studio they all worked at. She would have loved to hear a familiar giggle around one of those pillars or corners, and see a flash of blonde as the twins played hide and seek.

As frightening as this all might have been for her, they would probably have thought this to be the ultimate playground.
