Second Deduction [Open]

 Shinichi is outside in one of the courtyards today.  After receiving his skateboard from the spring he had spent a few days thoroughly checking over all the wiring and connections.  And today he had decided to finally test its operation.

He searches the courtyards until he finds one with promising surroundings.  And then he drops the skateboard on the ground and calmly steps onto it.  With one toe he nudges the pressure switch.  

And then, to the sound of the motor's loud whine, he's crouching down on the board as he speeds down the courtyard.  As he approaches the wall he leans into the turn and starts building up the acceleration.

He cuts the power and skids to a halt before hopping off. "I've had some practice."

Ratchet smirked and activated his own hoverboots. Jets of flame erupted from the bottoms of his boots and Ratchet hit the accelerator. He flew over the ground and around the courtyard, jumping over a few of the rock structures with some easy front flips for the Lombax before skidding to his own halt.

"Same here."

Shinichi still hadn't fully decided what he thought of this person. His very existence was completely illogical. But if this truly was an hallucination or a dream there was no harm in playing along?

"...How do those work?"

He smiled and taps the toes of his boots against the ground.

"They use zero-g pulse stabilizers and ion propulsion cells for propulsion. You can activate the ion coils for the accelerator and go faster like I did. If the coils get rusted though they can shut down sometimes at random."

He frowns and puts a hand on his chin as he sorts through that.

"Ion propulsion, is it? I've read some of the studies on the potential of it, of course. But it has been mostly dismissed as unworkable at the current technology level. Doesn't generate enough thrust."

"Maybe not for larger ships and things but they work pretty well on smaller weight things. Like boots. Perfect for these hoverboots and floating crate dollies."
